Sworn translation of documents & localization

Sworn Translation of documents
Translation of legal texts or official documents (notarial deeds, diplomas, contracts, writs, etc.) by a sworn translator to the courts.
Legalization consists in having a seal affixed by the court with which the translator is affiliated, proving that the latter is indeed a sworn translator.

Localization
Process of translating and adapting a product (software package, internet site, on-line help, manual, documentation) to the national and cultural norms of a particular environment or market (e.g. currency, customary page size, address format, calendar,date/time format, etc.).

Tools used for localization: the localization market uses a range of tools which can be classified into two categories: machine translation tools and computer-aided translation (CAT) tools.
While the former are used to replace the translator to a certain extent, the latter were devised with the intention of lessening the repetitive element in the translator's work, by automating terminology searches and recycling completed translations.
There are three types of CAT tools: translation memories, terminology tools and software localization tools.
The first two are mainly used to translate documentation, on-line help and HTML texts, while the latter are used to translate and test the user interfaces (dialogue boxes, menus, messages, etc.).
